Act of kindness for Lent Hunger Banquet
To raise students’ awareness on how uneven distribution of resources leads to poverty and famine in underdeveloped countries, the Religious Education Team organized a Hunger Banquet as an act of kindness for Lent. Over 100 students participated in the event to offer their lunch to the needy. All participants received only a piece of bread for lunch instead of a regular meal. By practicing mindfulness meditation, we experienced chewing the bread with each bite which made the food taste sweet. We were being mindful of how we eat and where we get our food. Eventually, we regained a joy of eating by being grateful to God for the food He gave us. Funds raised by the event will be donated to the food bank.
