Passing the Torch of Faith Across Eight Decades, Uniting in Praise to Honor Our Lady: School Holds Annual Procession of Our Lady
To pay tribute to the Virgin Mary and celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the establishment of the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong, our school solemnly held its annual Procession of Our Lady recently. With enthusiastic participation from all staff and students, the event took place in a solemn yet warm atmosphere, where everyone united in prayer to give thanks for God’s grace and carry forward the torch of faith.

The event commenced in the morning. Adorned with flowers symbolizing purity and light, a beautifully decorated float carrying the statue of Mary sat centrally. Led by Catholic Society members and Girl Guides holding crosses, Catholic students dressed in white robes joined forces to push the float forward as it circled the school sports field twice. The entire school stood respectfully on both sides in reverence to welcome Our Lady, creating a deeply solemn and moving scene.

During the procession, teachers and students recited the Rosary in unison, praying for Our Lady's protection and guidance. Accompanied by sacred hymns, the campus was filled with a serene and holy atmosphere. This tradition not only reinforces the school's Catholic foundation, but also brings peace and solidarity to the minds and hearts of teachers and students amidst their busy studies.

Notably, a meaningful new segment was introduced before the conclusion of this year's event. Marking the 80th Anniversary of the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong, and in heartfelt gratitude for God’s eight decades of grace and Gospel light bestowed upon Hong Kong, all teachers and students stood together to sing the Diocese's 80th Anniversary theme song, "Pass the Light, Bless the City" (《全城.傳承》), with joy and thanksgiving. Resonating throughout the campus, their voices echoed the shepherds in Bethlehem who proclaimed the glad tidings of the Savior's birth. Taking up the precious torch of faith, teachers and students used their song to spread Christ's love from the campus to the whole city, passing it down through generations.

A student representative who helped push the float shared: "Praying alongside the entire school and singing the theme song together for the Diocese's 80th Anniversary was deeply heartwarming and moving. It not only expresses our reverence for Our Lady, but also instills in us a profound sense of mission to pass on the faith and serve others."

Since its founding, the school has remained centered on the Catholic faith, with the Procession of Our Lady being one of its most representative cultural traditions. The event concluded joyfully amidst rich blessings. The school aims to continue guiding students through such activities to practice charity and peace, letting the light of the Gospel illuminate both the campus and society.
