On the occasion of the People's Republic of China celebrating its 59^th anniversary, the whole school gathered in the playground in the afternoon to witness the solemn National Flag raising ceremony.

After the ceremony, a group of students who joined EDB organized educational tours to Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing and Shenzhen during the last academic year, shared their experience with us in the school hall. They showed us photos and video clips of the places they had visited such as the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Bird's Nest Stadium. Some students also visited major universities of Shanghai and Nanjing. Besides visiting places of interest, they were also given chances to meet and talk to local people. Students visiting Beijing during the Olympics were even given opportunities to watch some events at the Bird's Nest Stadium.

They thought these first-hand cultural experiences enabled them to learn more about different aspects of our motherland. In fact, their sharing really gave us a better understanding of China and helped raise our awareness of our national identity.
