5th June, 2009 will always be an unforgettable date for 259 of our students and their parents ¡V it was the 34th Graduation Ceremony for Form 5 graduates and the 31st Graduation Ceremony for Form 7 graduates. On this special day, we were honoured to have Ms. Connie Ho Ka-lai, and ex-student, ex-teacher and a former member of the Hong Kong Fencing Team, as our guest speaker.

Following the introduction, the school song was sung, and the ceremony began. Supervisor Rev. Sr. Virginia Ng led everyone in prayer and welcomed the guests. The school report presented by Principal Li summarized what St. Antonius Girls' College has achieved this year with its students in all round education. At the end of the report, she urged the graduates, who are future world leaders, to keep a keen eye and an active involvement in different world issues, including natural disasters, the recent financial tsunami and environmental protection. She reminded students to uphold the moral standards and values the mother school has instilled in them all through their secondary education.

The graduates received their certificates from Ms. Ho, who later gave a speech that inspired and moved everyone. Ms. Ho recollected her school days at St. Antonius especially remembering the hard work and patience of teachers and the opportunities offered by the school. To underline the importance of having a goal and going for it, she recounted her last P.E. lesson, which gave her insight and inspiration as to what she wanted to do in the future, and later, led her to take the necessary steps to having such a successful sports career. Ms. Ho ended her thought-provoking speech by encouraging the graduates to be committed to community service.

The evening ended with the graduates singing 'Auld Lang Syne' and an award-winning dance performance by our school dancers. As mentioned by the students' representatives: graduation marks the beginning of a new journey. May we wish all the the 259 young ladies a fruitful future.
