School Re-opening Mass
11-09-2006
We were honoured to have Rev. Giovanni Giampietro to hold the school re-opening mass for us.Rev. Giampietro blessed all the students and prayed for a year of peace and happiness for them.He then gave us a lesson about good listening.
Rev. Giampietro said that we must listen with open ears and an open heart. We need to be humble, keep quiet and pay attention to the speaker.
Rev. Giampietro quoted the story of a man who was deaf and had difficulty in speaking (Mark 7) to explain this. The man was brought to Jesus, hoping that Jesus would place His hands upon him.Taking him aside from the crowd, Jesus thrust His fingers into the man's ears and spat and touched his tongue. Then He said, ¡§Ephphatha¡¨, which means, ¡§Be opened¡¨.After this, the man¡¦s ears were opened, his tongue was loosed, and he began to speak distinctly.
Rev. Giampietro stressed that we must listen to the Lord with our ears and heart open.Similarly, this is the way we should listen to our teachers; to learn and to improve. If everyone could be a good listener, there would be more harmony in the community.
The event was reprinted in Kung Kao Po dated 24th September 2006.
