Dear Lord,

We are facing great danger caused by global warming which could kill millions of people. Last week, the hand of the Doomsday Clock pushed two minutes closer to midnight Wednesday. This is a symbol that the world is moving closer to disaster.

It is said that global warming is more threatening than nuclear weapons and terrorism. Lord, please help us understand the importance of environmental protection and develop good practices for saving energy. We will all suffer from the diseases and natural disasters caused by the changes in the temperature of our planet. This winter has been another very warm one, and we are on track for a record for hot weather yet again.

Please remind us that we should treasure all forms of natural resources including water, air and trees. Help us all to take responsibility for the use of energy in our own lives. Help us to cut down our use of electricity, oil, gas, paper and all unnecessary items. Guide our leaders to set up effective measures for reducing the emission of greenhouse gases. We pray that you can grant us all wisdom to use energy wisely, so that our planet can be protected.
