Dear Lord,

There have been many problems between China and Japan since the war more than fifty years ago, and their leaders have worked hard to come to a better understanding. Finally, last week, the Japanese Prime Minister visited Beijing, and this has brought about a great improvement in their relationship.Thank you for granting these leaders wisdom so that both sides could leave behind their bitter differences.Under your protection, we can continue to live in a harmonious and peaceful world. Please teach our students how to love one another, to share rather than to compete, and to compromise rather than to disagree.

A study conducted by our students found that many of our students had little awareness of their national identity.Lord, please help us understand that we are part of China and should care more about our home country.

Meanwhile, there are large scale anti-government protests in Taiwan. Lord, please help the Taiwanese to solve their problems peacefully.

Finally, in a news-filled week, Hong Kongˇ¦s Policy Address was given last week. The decision to fund kindergarten education through a voucher scheme is welcome. We hope that this will enhance the quality of education. Other problems such as the minimum wage and pollution will need to be resolved. Please grant wisdom and health to our Chief Executive so that he can lead Hong Kong well to becoming a world class international city.

Lord, hear our prayer!
