On Nov 14, about 30 Form 5 and Form 6 Biology students joined the programme ˇ§Coastal Ecologistˇ¨ organized by WWF to visit Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park.
This four-hour programme focused on the study of coastal organisms and their development. Students were able to investigate the inter-tidal environment, such as rocky and sandy shores, through a series of field studies. The programme was conducted with an interactive approach, through a wide range of on-site activitie,s which included simple field experiments, marine life observation and identification. The students found a number of organisms, such as rock oysters, whelks, hermit crabs and star fish etc. The visit also included a one-hour coral observation by glass-bottomed Boat. The students were excited to see the creatures at the bottom of the sea, such as sea urchins, sea cucumbers and different types of corals and fish.
