We were honoured to have Rev. Charlton Plateros to give us a message about Lent. Rev. Plateros reminded us to be thankful for all the things we have, and most of all, for the love we have from God.
Rev. Plateros encouraged all of us to resist the temptation of having fun without due attention to our school work. Instead, we should work hard on our studies and develop good habits. God loves all men. We should feel the love from God, our parents, our teachers, and our friends, and return that love to all the people around us.
The Lent period commemorates the time when Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit into the desert, when he ate nothing for 40 days. Physically weakened by hunger, Jesus was tempted three times by the devil to use his power to obtain bread, to receive glory and to become the ruler of the whole world, but he was able to resist all these temptations.
During the mass, we also prayed for our Form 5 and 7 students who are going to sit for the public exams. We prayed that they would be able to resist temptation and concentrate well in their studies.
