The English Drama Club invited a school touring troupe from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts to perform for our Form 1 students on the 9th of March, 2007. Students from other forms who are interested in drama were also invited to watch the performance of Shakespeare's play, The Merchant of Venice. It starred many actors who will graduate from the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Drama) program later this year.

The students greatly enjoyed the professional performance by the acting stars of tomorrow from the Drama School, and were amazed at the discipline of the backstage crew from the Technical Arts School. They were all given an information sheet from the HKAPA to help them recognise the wider social issues involved in the play, such as ethnic inequality in Elizabethan England. William Shakespeare is one of the greatest playwrights in history and the students benefited from this exposure to his work.

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts is Hong Kong's only tertiary institution which provides professional training in the fields of the performing arts, theatre technical art, and film and television. We were very fortunate to have a group of this calibre visiting our school.
