This month the theme of our school assembly and morning talks is ¡¥Everyone is born useful¡¦. The aim is to make us understand that we are all capable of something good.We all have some talents or potential. We should try to make the best use of our abilities to work for others and live a better life.
We were honoured to have Ms Leung Tung Lan, a social worker from Direction Association For the Handicapped, and Mr Chow Chi Ming, also called Ming Chai, to come to our school assembly to speak to us. Ming Chai shared with us his experience of life as a quadriplegic.
Ming Chai has a strong will. He is so brave. Throughout some years, he has gone through painful treatment in hospital. Yet he has never given up hope. He is ever trying his best to learn to cope with his disabilities and make improvements, because he wishes to live as an independent, active and functioning participant in society.
Ming Chai¡¦s story is touching and inspirational. We have so much to learn from him. To us, walking, running, breathing, writing, drinking and talking all seem natural, yet they all take Ming Chai enormous effort. With courage, strength and will power, Ming Chai has accomplished so much more than a normal person.
We should learn from Ming Chai. We have to appreciate life even more, treasure everything we have in this world, try our best to overcome difficulties and never lose hope. Ming Chai has been awarded a gold medal for his volunteer work helping other people like himself. He is a wonderful example to show that ¡¥everyone is good at something¡¦.
