Staff Development Day

Date: 11 June, 2004

Time: 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

The second Staff Development Day was held on 11 June 2004 and the theme is “The Characteristics of Catholic Schools”. We invited Rev. Marciano Baptista of Society of Jesus to be our guest speaker. With the use of two verses from the Bible, Rev. Baptista said that teachers are significant role models for students. They should set good examples for them by living up to what they say and expressing desirable personality traits such as acceptance and forgiveness in the form of action.

Then, Rev. Baptista went on to share with us one of the most important characteristics found in Catholic schools - love. He stressed that as teachers in a Catholic school, we should love our students in the same way as Jesus loves us. It is believed that students will also learn to love others if they grow under teachers’ love and care. A harmonious learning and teaching environment can then be created in our school if every one of us loves one another.
