Our school joined the two-year (2004/5 – 2005/6) Seed Project (Scientific Investigation) run by the EMB Gifted Education Section Curriculum Development Institute last year. Twenty scientifically gifted students from Form 1 each year were selected to participate in the programme. Our science teachers collaborated with the mentors from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) to design some learning activities for our students. Many activities such as visits, workshops, seminars and so on were arranged for the students to broaden their horizons and stretch their potential in science. Students found this kind of learning experience stimulating and rewarding.
On 1st January 2006, our students visited the HKUST and tried out experiments in the science laboratory. On 15th May 2006, they presented their projects on `Water Pollution’ to Mr Leo Fung and Mr. Joseph Leung, the Curriculum Development Officers of the EMB Gifted Education Section. Students thoroughly enjoyed these activities and gained a great deal of practical knowledge.
